Mary Theresa Docrat, of Weston, formerly of Dublin, Ireland, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on September 25, 1933, Theresa trained as a fashion designer at the Grafton Academy of Design in Dublin before moving to Boston with her beloved husband, Dr. Kassim Docrat, whom she met in Dublin while he was attending the Royal College of Surgeons, they shared a loving long lasting marriage of fifty-eight years. Together, they raised three daughters, to whom she devoted her life with great love and care.
Theresa was a woman of remarkable artistry and creativity. A gifted designer and illustrator, she poured her talents into dressmaking, sculpture, furniture making/refinishing, and the creation of charming stuffed animal treasures cherished by her family and even sold in local shops. Later, her deep commitment to her community led her to help save a local library from closure, where she went on to serve as a librarian.
Her life was not without hardship. She endured the tragic loss of her beloved daughter Fionola at the age of nineteen and bravely faced many health challenges from an early age, including cancer and heart illness, with courage and resilience. Through it all, Theresa's humor, her magical storytelling, warmth, and the unmistakable Irish twinkle in her eye never faded. She also showed deep devotion and tender care for her handicapped mother (Anne Rowley Weir) throughout her life.
As an only child, Theresa was warmly embraced by her husband's large extended family from South Africa and Pakistan, who became her own. She was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a devoted friend. Showering her love and extreme generosity on her children, her grandchildren, and her three great-grandsons who knew her affectionately as Gigi. She will be remembered for her many creative talents, her love of cooking, her humor, her love and care for animals, and above all her hard work and devotion to her family.
Theresa is survived by daughters: Katherine A. Macleod and Mariam Docrat both of Weston. Granddaughters: Gabriela Elias of Weston, Heather Mendonca (Ramiro) of Marlborough, Deidra MacLeod-Richardson (Kris) of Sudbury. And her three great-grandsons: Emmett, Mason and Myles, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews, extended family members and many cherished friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28th from 9:00 - 10:45AM at George F. Doherty Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Wellesley, Followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul's Church, 502 Washington St, Wellesley (Live Stream sjspwellesley.org/sp/live/). Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following the Mass for those who wish to attend.
