Mary Louise Thiel, 91, of Marion, IL, was called to the Lord on August 31, 2025.
Mary was born on August 22, 1934, to the late John and Ella Weber in Edgewood, IL. She married George Thiel on July 3, 1954, and they shared 38 years together until his death in 1992.
She was a faithful member of Lake of Egypt Christian Church, volunteered for 26 years with Hospice of Southern Illinois, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of Edgewood American Legion, the Lake of Egypt Fire Protection District, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was a long-time club member of senior citizen groups in Goreville and Marion.
Mary enjoyed volunteering at the Goreville Ministerial Alliance, traveling with the senior citizens, watching WWE wrestling, listening to country and Christian music, playing the slots, Bingo and lottery tickets, sharing chicken dinners at Giant City, and frying fish caught by her family out of Lake of Egypt.
Loving mother of John (late Alice), Terry (Rudy) Host, and Tina (Joe) Musolino. Beloved Grammie to Missy (Mike), Shelley (Dave), Johnny (Nicole), Catherine (Scott), Rudy (Emily), Joey, Bobby (Anna), and Jenna (Tony). Great-Grammie to Dillion, Justin, Maura, Johnny, Savanna, Rudy, Vinny, Charlotte, and Viviana. Aunt Mary to many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Rizzuto and brother-in-law, Jim Like. She was preceded in death by her siblings John, Mark, Jerry, Ed, Marion, Elery, David, Lorrie Thiel, and Patty Like.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9 am to 11 am at Lake of Egypt Christian Church, (12102 Malibu Ln, Marion IL). Funeral service at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lake of Egypt Christian Church.
