Terry G. Spees, of Herrin, IL passed away on August 25, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born April 17, 1959, to Charles and Norma Spees of Marion, IL. He grew up in Marion, the oldest of four boys.
He married Donna Wilkins Spees on May 29, 1982. They shared 28 years of marriage and two children before her passing in 2010. He was blessed to find love again when he met Jennifer Rinehart Spees in 2017. They were married on March 10, 2023. Terry retired from the Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 551 after 44 years. He was a supporter of unions and took great pride in his time working and teaching his apprentices. He loved catching up with his friends at the hall. He loved science fiction and the outdoors. One of his favorite things to do was cook for those he loved. He spoiled his family with all of his treats and loved to share his food with the nurses who helped care for him. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching their activities, teaching them to cook, and instilling a love of nature. One of his greatest joys was taking his family on yearly vacations. He would spend all year researching the best restaurants and activities.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Spees; his daughter Sarah (Eric) Burd; his son Ryan (Erin) Spees; his bonus daughters, Ruthie Rinehart, Whitney (Nathan) Jones; his grandchildren, Ella Burd, Evie Burd, Maddox Spees, Maverick Jones, and Langley Jones; his brother Todd Spees; several brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, Tim Spees, a brother, Tom Spees, and his first wife, Donna Wilkins Spees. T
Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Blue Funeral Home, located at 1704 N. Court Street, Marion, Illinois.
