Mary Frances "Snooky" Tighe, age 88, of Erie, PA., peacefully passed away in her sleep at Fairview Manor on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Born in Erie on September 27, 1936, Mary was the daughter of the late William and Josephine (Banak) Borkowski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her belovedhusband, Frederick, and her three brothers, Jerry, Richard and Robert Borkowski.

On June 25, 1955, Mary married her love, Frederick J. Tighe. They spent the early years of their marriage building their family in South Bend, Indiana. Upon returning to Erie, she enjoyed work at Carlisle's downtown and later her work for many years as a card stocker for American Greetings. Mary's greatest joys were her faith, family and friends. She was a long time, devoted member of Saint John the Baptist where she enjoyed the ministries of the church in addition to many lifelong friendships. Mary, always proud of her Polish heritage, never missed a chance to Polka whether it was in her kitchen or at Zabawa.

Her family was her largest pride where her matriarchy touched the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have many special lifelong friendships that simply expanded her family. To know Mary was to know a truly beautiful heart.

Mary is survived by her sister, Audrey (Kenneth) Mrozowski of Erie; sister-in-law, Marianne (Richard) Borkowski of Erie and her children, Elaine (Douglas) Ballman of Erie; Michael Tighe of Massachusetts; Terry (Christine) Tighe of Erie; Kelly (Mark) Polanski of Erie; Mary Beth (Kevin) Stanbro of Erie; and Patrick (Sandra) Tighe of Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to her adoring children, her many grand children and great grand children, whom affectionately called her GMF, will lovingly carry on her memory and family values.

Friends may call on Monday, June 9th at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. from 3pm until 7pm, and are invited to the Funeral Mass the following morning, Tuesday, June 10th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com
