Died: September 12, 2025 in PEORIA, IL
Princeton - Mary Ellen Tkach, 71, of Hopewell, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois.
She was born on March 4, 1954, in Princeton, Illinois, to the late Wilmur and
Roberta (Sabin) Piper. Mary Ellen was a proud graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1972, as the class valedictorian, and went on to further her education for two years at the Black Hawk College Adult Learning Center.
On August 27, 1977, she married the love of her life, Louis "Randy" Tkach, in
Malden, Illinois. Together, they shared over 48 years of marriage filled with love and devotion.
Mary Ellen worked at the Malden Banking Center and later at Clark Service Station in Chillicothe, Illinois. In her free time, she enjoyed curling up with a good book, working on puzzles, and watching football and tennis.
She is survived by her husband, Louis R. Tkach of Hopewell, Illinois; her daughter, Roberta Tkach of Pekin, Illinois; brothers, Tom Piper, Stan Piper, and Keith (Tami) Piper; and her sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Bob) Christensen
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sons, Ben Tkach and Jeremy Tkach; sister Dixie and her sister-in-law, Cheryl Piper.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
