Mary Torrez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service - Morgan Ave. on Feb. 23, 2026.
Maria (Mary) Inez Torrez, 95, was born on December 16, 1930, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She passed away peacefully at the age of 95, leaving behind a lifetime of love, strength, and cherished memories.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary lived through nearly a century of change with grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her life was rooted in love, faith, and dedication to the Lord.

Mary married her beloved husband, Pedro Torrez, Sr., on February 20, 1950. Though their marriage was tragically cut short with his passing in 1966, their years together were filled with love, family, and many memories.

A faithful and devoted member of Trinity Our Savior Lutheran Church for 67 years, Mary served her church community with joy and commitment. She was actively involved in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), sang in the church choir, and participated in Spanish Bible study. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found great purpose in worship, fellowship, and service to others.

Mary was known for her gentle heart and generous spirit. She had a special way of making others feel welcome and cared for, and her presence brought comfort and strength to many. Her greatest joy was her family, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Torrez, Sr., her son, Pedro Torrez, Jr., granddaughter Felicia Torrez, her parents and 8 siblings.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria Lazo (Carlos) and Diana Douglas (Tom); her brother, Mike Zamora (Peggy); her grandchildren, Tanya Torrez, Dwayne Lazo, and Amber Douglas (Adam Villegas); and her great-grandchildren, Kevin Ruiz, Taylor Ruiz, Lainey Lazo, Addisyn Villegas, and Aniyah Villegas. Her love and legacy will continue to live on through each of them.

Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving heart, and the countless lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Our Savior Lutheran Church.
