Mary Teresa (Erickson) Van de Kamp
February 27, 1950 – October 20, 2025
Mary Teresa Van de Kamp, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 75 years old.
Mary was born on February 27, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, to Alice June and Howard P. Erickson. The eldest of five children, she grew up in Sherman Oaks surrounded by her three brothers and one sister. She attended Providence High School in Burbank and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine.
In 1976, Mary married the love of her life, Theodore ("Terry") Van de Kamp, Jr., in Los Angeles. Together they began their life's adventure in Kauai before settling in Carlsbad, California, where they raised their three children and built a warm, loving home filled with laughter, creativity, and care.
Mary was a woman of many talents and boundless generosity. She was an exceptional cook, baker, and gardener, and her home was often the gathering place for friends and family. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly crafted quilts and gifts that became cherished family treasures. She enjoyed playing Canasta with friends, family game nights, and hosting beautiful dinner parties that reflected her artistic touch and gracious spirit.
Mary's kindness, strength, and love were felt by all who knew her. She faced her illness with courage and grace, remaining steadfast in her love for her family and her faith throughout her journey.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Terry; her daughters, Mieke and Kathryn; her son, Nicholas; and her brothers, Jeffrey and Peter. She also leaves behind six adored grandchildren and countless friends whose lives were brightened by her presence.
Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, generosity, and the beautiful life she created.
