Mary Vannette Obituary

Mary L. Vannette, age 88, of Stony Lake, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was born July 29, 1928 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Garret and Gladys (Courtney) DeHaan. She was raised in Kalamazoo. She married Roy Vannette on June 25, 1948. Mary was a graduate of Western Michigan University. She lived in Troy, Michigan for many years. She and Roy moved to Stony Lake upon retirement in 1977. She was a member of New Era Reformed Church. Mary was the beloved mother of Karen Vannette, Diane Hagan, Pamela (Michael) Kroswek and Mark (Pilar) Vannette; grandmother of Debra (Levi) Couture, Cynthia (Kevin) Rountree, Christopher (Tiffany) Kroswek, Sean Patrick (Christine) Hagan, Luke Hagan, Sarah Vannette and Anthony (Ashley) Vannette; great-grandmother of Jordan Couture, Rebecca Couture, Kaylee Rountree, Alexis Rountree and Cecelia Kroswek; sister of Ruth Ann (Roger) VanDuine; and sister-in-law of Loyal Vannette. She was preceded in death by her parents;her husband, Roy; and her son-in-law, Michael Hagan. Visitation is Tuesday, February 21, 6-8 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 22nd, 11 am at New Era Reformed Church with Pastor Rick Eschenburg officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Stony Lake. Memorials may be directed to the New Era Reformed Church, 4775 First Street, New Era, MI 49446.
