Mary Vaught, 91 of Danville died peacefully on August 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born August 22, 1932, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Hargadon and Louise Lester Thurston. Her husband William H. "Bill" Vaught preceded her in death. Mary was a 1949 Danville High School graduate, and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Cherished Friends group. She was the secretary for First Baptist Church and had worked in that role at Kentucky School for the Deaf and Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Kay (Neal) Godbey, and two sons, Larry (Penny) Vaught and Ray (Lynn) Vaught, a sister, Kay (Don) White, six grandchildren; Lee Phillips, Louren Phillips-Kidd, Jessica (Berry) Hudson, Jeremy (Christy) Vaught, Joshua (Brooke) Vaught and Aaron Vaught, and thirteen great-grandchildren; Cooper Vaught, Colby Vaught, Savana Hudson, Wynston Hudson, Keeley Vaught, Noah Vaught, Caden Vaught, Natalie Vaught, Will Phillips, Dillon Phillips, Alie Goode, Ayden Phillips, and Sophya Phillips.
The funeral service to honor Mary's life will be held at Gethsemane Baptist Church on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 1:00 pm with visitation prior to the service from 11 am – 1 pm. Pallbearers will be Louren Phillips-Kidd, Josh Vaught, Aaron Vaught, Jeremy Vaught, Lee Phillips and David White. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cherished Friends group. Mark Payton will officiate. Mary will be laid to rest in Bellevue Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Gethsemane Baptist Church, Soups on Us.
