Renetta B. Vaught of Mayetta, KS, passed away peacefully at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS on September 28, 2025 at the age of 87 years after suffering a major stroke on September 9, 2025. She was born on February 11, 1938 in a farm house near Delia, KS, the daughter of Henry F. DeVader and Ines I. (Hladky) DeVader.

She grew up in the Holton area and lived in Mayetta for over 40 years. Renetta worked various jobs throughout her life. She loved helping the elderly. She was an avid horsewoman throughout her life and loved being on the farm around animals and flowers of all types. Renetta could not wait for spring to start a garden to see its outcome.

Renetta was, as many people would agree, a strong-willed woman. She was not afraid to tell you how it was and would never "sugar coat" it. But, was always willing to help anyone without expecting any payment in return.

Renetta is survived by her brother, Robert DeVader of Shingle Springs, CA; her sisters, Ramona Robinson of Mayetta, KS and Rosalie (Delbert) Boling of Hoyt, KS; sons, Ralph DeVader of Whiting, KS and Russell (Menerva) Martin of Wichita, KS; daughters, Janice (LeRoy) Flax of Collyer, KS and Jenny (Melvin) Bailey of Mayetta, KS; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Francis DeVader, Richard DeVader, Raymond DeVader and Roger DeVader and daughter, Jackie Lytle.

As per Renetta's wishes, her body was donated to KU Willed Body Program (ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK). There are no services planned at this time.

Donations in her honor can be made to Beck Bookman Library, Holton, KS c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
