Millie Eilene Marshall, 98, of Whiting, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Vintage Park in Holton, KS. She was born November 18, 1926 in French Lick, IN, the daughter of Charley Rainey and Henrietta Miller.

Millie graduated from West Baden High School in 1944.

She was a telephone operator, a cashier, traveled to orchards to pick fruit, but most importantly she was a housewife a homemaker and a grandmother.

She was a member of the Whiting Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher.

Millie married Ralph George Marshall on April 19, 1963 in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2019 after nearly 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dora McCarty, infant sister Ida Rainey, Ruby Lancaster, Pearl Nelson, Rose Fair, and Hester Andis; brothers, Russell Rainey, Alfred Rainey, Fred Rainey, Clifford Rainey and Sylvester Rainey.

Survivors include her son, Ralph William Marshall (Denise) of Whiting, KS; daughter, Nellie Anne Lavin of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren, Adam Lavin, William S. Marshall and Sarah E. Marshall.

Millie will lie in state Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 29th, 2025 at the Springhill Cemetery in Whiting, KS. Memorials may be given to the Whiting Baptist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436

I remember Aunt Millie when she was young and married to John. Her children, Carolyn and Bob were playmates of me and my siblings for our growing up years.
We loved them dearly.
