Mary Joan "Mary Jo" Ventre

Ventre, Mary Joan (nee Rinck) beloved wife of the late John A Ventre, Sr., loving mother of John "Rocky" (Gail) Ventre, Jr, Nicholas (Claire) Ventre, Gina (Ventre) Harbison, Lisa Ventre, Joseph (Margie) Ventre, Stephen (Gabriela) Ventre, Carol (Tom) Lay and Michael (Mary) Ventre, Debbie (Denny) Gwirtz. Devoted grandmother of 27 and great grandmother of 53. Sister of David (Mary Jo) Rinck and the late Tony (Rose Mary) Rinck, James Rinck and Daniel Rinck. Sister-in-law of Patricia Jacimine and the late Antoinette Shorten, Mary Anderson, Gilda Meehan, Mathilda Fischer, Vi Wingert, Anne Denton, Joseph Jr., Jerry and Carmen "Chico" Ventre. Passed peacefully in prayer, surrounded by family on June 9, 2023. Age 95.
Mary Joan, more commonly referred to as Mary Jo by friends and family, was a parishioner of St. Antoninus for more than 50 years, dating back to May, 1973. A lifelong Cincinnati resident, she attended the all girls St. Joseph Academy in Mt Washington, now known as Archbishop McNicholas High School. The school was purchased from the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Medaille by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 1998. Mary Jo attended college at Mount Saint Joseph in Delhi, Ohio.
She held several jobs in the late 40's and early 50's, including mechanical drawing, and employment at Muzak on the 39th floor of the Carew tower, and work at Caproni's restaurant (downtown). She worked for Stoner and Associates and the IRS later in life, but through Muzak/Caproni's she met the Ventre family, which led her to her primary vocation as wife and mother. She loved to paint, garden, read and cook, enjoyed art and architecture, especially all things related to the history of Cincinnati. Her devotion to "the love of her life", John A. Ventre, Sr. (Johnny) and to her children, grandchildren and extended family,mirrored her love for Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph, and were an inspiration to many.
Visitation is Friday, June 16, 2023 at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home from 4:30-7:30PM.
