Mary Gladys (Keith) Whitener, 75, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.
She was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on June 1, 1950 to the late James & Mattie (Simpson) Keith. She was of the Baptist Faith and member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. Mary dedicated her life to her family. She was employed at Cowdens, Hayes Lumenix, Ponderosa, Frisch's, and a dementia aide at Somerwoods Nursing Home.
Mary is survived by her children, Rose Abrams, Gary & (Tina) Keith, Loretta Dunn, and Jenny Labonte; her grandchildren, Brandon Abrams, Brandi Abrams & (Peyton), Kylie & (Seth) Bruce, Peyton Dunn, Kody & (Genna) Keith, Kayce Drawdy, and Kris Drawdy; great-grandchildren, Zach, Ryan, Sutton, Makenna, and Cooper; and 8 siblings, Lloyd & (Lana) Keith, William & (Delores) Keith, Ople & (Chuck) Jones, Betty & (Jim) Ballard, Helen Smith & (Andy), Bernice & (Jeff) Griffieth, Hershell Keith, and Roy & (Sheila) Keith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Whitener, whom she married on June 22, 1996 and passed on October 15, 2024; her parents, James Arvil and Mattie (Simpson) Keith; brother, Chester Keith; her grandson, Gary Wayne Keith, Jr.; granddaughter, Christina Nicole Labonte; and son-in-law, Stephen Helton.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathan Logan officiating.
Burial will be in Buncombe Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until time for services.
