Born on February 4, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jean was the daughter of Zelma Genevieve Kearney Mejia and Otto Ernest Mejia. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School.
Jean married George Alexander Widlund on July 20, 1962, in the Logan Utah Temple.
Jean's career took her to various places, including Salt Lake Hardware and as a computer aide. During her time at the computer aide job, she made some of her closest friends and created unforgettable memories.
One of Jean's favorite pastimes was spending time on vacations at Cannon Beach, Oregon. She and her sister would rent houses for the family on the beach and have a blast together. Their shared sense of humor and love for each other made their time together truly special.
Jean's favorite way to spend her free time was reading. She could often be found engrossed in multiple books at once, alongside her daily newspaper.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Lisa Widlund Belliston and Susan Widlund Taylor (Bart), both residing in St. George, Utah; her son, Mark Alexander Widlund (Paula) in Salt Lake City, Utah; and her four granddaughters, Sierra Shuback, Alexandria Chambers, Kayla Taylor Dupass, Gina Taylor, and one great grandson, Asher Dupass.
On December 27, 2014, George Alexander Widlund passed away.
Jean is also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Daisy Mejia Bingham.
Jean's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Retreat at Sunriver for providing her with an assisted living environment in her own apartment for seven years until her passing. The dedication and interment of Jean will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 1342 E 500 S in Salt Lake City, Utah.
