Mary Lou Yanus

Mary L. (Ryan) Yanus, died peacefully at age 86 on Monday, April 1, 2024.
Mary Lou was born on January 3, 1938. She was the daughter of William and Irene (Flanagan) Ryan and grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts. After getting married, she settled in Medford with her family where she lived for 46 years.
She was a graduate of St. Clement High School in Somerville and attended classes at Boston College, Curry College, and Harvard University. She was also a devoted parishioner at Immaculate Conception in Malden, MA.
She worked at Boston Edison and Waldenbooks for many years. Mary Lou loved spending time with her family and friends. She always went above and beyond to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. Over the years, she loved spending time down the Cape with her girlfriends and she cherished the time she spent with her family in Falmouth. She enjoyed neighborhood gatherings and luncheons with her many dear friends. She loved cooking and baking, reading the newspaper, and crossword puzzles. Mary Lou was a kind and compassionate wife, mother, nana, mother-in-law, and friend.
Mary Lou was the wife of the late Richard M. Yanus and devoted mother of Karen Greene and her husband, Jack, of Quincy, MA and Amy Yanus of Medford, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Brenden Yanus of Medford, MA and Jack Greene and Kevin Greene of Quincy, MA.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph (Joe) Ryan of Marblehead, MA, William (Bill) Ryan of Swampscott, MA, and her sister, Irene Sincleair of St. Cloud, MN. She is survived by her sister, Claire Collins of Medford, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for friends and relatives will be held at Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant Street, Malden on Friday, April 5th from 8:00–9:30 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
