Maryann Dunn, 89, of Dubuque, passed away early Monday morning, November 3, 2025, surrounded by family at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:45 am Friday, November 7, 2025 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Maryann will be 11:00 am Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Father Robert Gross as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West, Iowa.
Maryann was born August 3, 1936, on the family farm near Keota, Keokuk County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Leona (Dumont) Peiffer. In 1954, she and her twin sister graduated from Keota high school. Two years later, she married Francis Michael Dunn in St. Mary's Church in Keota, Iowa. After 69 years of marriage, they are now reunited in Heaven after his death on August 7, 2025.
Soon after their marriage, they moved to Denver, CO, starting a family and Maryann's career as an X-ray technician. In 1967, the family returned to the Midwest, living in East Dubuque, IL, Gliden, IA, Graettinger, IA, and Dubuque, IA. Maryann served for many years as a Chaplin on the Pastoral Care team at MercyOne Dubuque. She volunteered for many organizations, including as an organist and pianist for many parishes, including St. Mary's (East Dubuque) and St. Columbkille (Dubuque). She will be remembered for her abiding service to her faith community and her pride and joy in her family. Maryann was a fastidious homemaker and frequent bridge player. Her favorite number was seven: seven children, seven siblings, and seven homes.
Survivors include six children: Katrina "Trina" (Andy) Wilberding of Dubuque, Theresa "Terri" (Rob) Droessler of Cuba City, WI, Michael (Michelle Harkness) Dunn of Elkhorn, WI, Nancy (Steve) Kann of Dubuque, Kelly (Tim) Sherman of Dubuque, and Patrick Dunn-Drees of Norwalk, IA; 18 grandchildren: Peter, Rachel (Sam), Zachary (Gina), Elizabeth (Michael), Matthew, Michael (Katerina), Rachel, Tyler, Sydney, Kaitlyn (Joey), Michael (Ashley), Joseph, Laura, Anna, Riley, Connor, Morgan (Jack), and Jacob (Madi); 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Virginia (Lloyd) Peiffer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, Maryann was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Kandace Drees-Dunn; three brothers, Lloyd, Charles (Anna), and Gerald (Rita) Peiffer; and four sisters, Lillian (Jim) Vittetoe, Lucille (Snowy) Cady, Martha (Frank) Gregan, and her older twin sister Suzanne (Robert) Judge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, St. Columbkille Catholic Church, and Stonehill Care Center.
Maryann's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Stonehill and Hospice of Dubuque for their care and support.

I was one of her and her husbands CNAs at Stonehill. She was such a joyful person to work with. She always brought a smile to my face. The love her and Frank shared was beautiful. She truly touched my heart. My condolences. She will forever be missed
