Rickelmann, MaryAnn (nee Aldi), age 88 of Bloomingdale, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Born in Paterson, NJ, to James and Carmella Aldi, MaryAnn had resided in Paterson, NJ and then moved to Hawthorne, NJ. She married and moved to Bloomingdale, NJ in 1961. MaryAnn had three children and three grandchildren.
MaryAnn had worked as a beautician for over 30 years at several prominent beauty salons. Her last formal job prior to her retirement was in an accounts receivable position for Monarch Electric in Fairfield, NJ.
MaryAnn was a very active parishioner at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Pompton Lakes, NJ. Always willing to help, MaryAnn worked in the rectory, as well as teaching Sunday School and CCD for several years. She served on several committees and also worked the food pantry.
MaryAnn was on the Bloomingdale Board of Education as Vice Chairman for many years and played a very active role for the students and teachers alike. She was also very active in the Senior Programs of Bloomingdale as well.
MaryAnn was a caring individual and quite known in her community. She was specifically known for her quick-witted humor and her common-sense approach to life. She was a great listener and offered her opinions only when asked, MOSTLY. She was not afraid to speak her mind and that is what made her so special to everyone who knew her. She was an amazing friend to so many people. She touched the soul of people who met her and they always said she was a wonderful and endearing person to talk to and get to know.
MaryAnn, love to decorate her house for every season so she could enjoy not only the significant spiritual seasons but also just decorate for the four seasons in general. She was proud of her clean house. On several occasions, when EMS and the local police had to assist her, she was always complimented on her impeccable house. They would always comment that they felt bad for walking on her floors and rugs.
One of her passions was traveling. She traveled around the world via plane, train and cruise ship. She loved it! She went on these trips with her best friends from church and with her other circle of friends. She loved Italy and loved Ireland.
MaryAnn always had a smile on her face. She never missed a daily mass on the television and always would say her Rosary daily. She would receive communion at home weekly from her church. She had strong faith in the Lord almighty. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith and let it be known that Jesus was the reason for all the seasons and that we should all be grateful for everyday as it is a true blessing from God.
MaryAnn Rickelmann was the beloved wife of the late Gerald G. Rickelmann, Sr. (1989). Loving mother of Donna Spagnola of Riverdale and her late husband Frank, Lynda Perrotta and her husband Ken of Bloomingdale, and Gerald G. Rickelmann, Jr. and his girlfiend Barbara of Paramus. Dear grandmother of Carly LaChance and her husband Thomas, Nicolas Perrotta, and Gerald Rickelmann III and his partner Matthew Kahlke.
Cremation will be private. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, August 3, 2024, meeting at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 31 Pompton Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ. Interment of ashes will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
