Phyllis D. Frey

Phyllis Marion (Dietch) Frey, 98, of Wyckoff, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2025.
She was born on April 23, 1927, in Paterson to the late Philip and Mathilda Dietch. Phyllis married Raymond Frey in 1948, who predeceased her in 2012. They both grew up in Fair Lawn and shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Phyllis worked as a registered nurse, school nurse in Wayne Public Schools, and later as a health teacher at Northern Highlands Regional High School until her retirement.
Phyllis is survived by her four children: Mary Tappen of Mt Arlington, NJ, Jane Pohlmeyer of Hudson, FL, Ann Frey of Wyckoff, NJ and Raymond Frey of Mt Arlington, NJ. She is also survived by seven grandchildren - Karen, Susan, Laurie, Alan, Jeffrey, Allyson and Nicole - and thirteen great-grandchildren - Colin, Julie, Kaitlyn, Alexandria, Jacob, Olivia, Emilia, Charles, Theodore, Zachary, Aidan, Connor and Nora.
Phyllis cherished many years spent at her summer home on Lake Hopatcong, winters in Stuart Florida and her longtime residence in Wyckoff since 1955. She found great joy in running her golf leagues and treasured every moment spent with her beloved family. Known affectionately as "GG", Phyllis was the heart and matriarch of our family - her love, strength and presence will be deeply missed.
A family celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
