Michael Lee Frey Sr.

Michael Lee Frey, Sr., 84, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Virgil and Anna (Nemes) Frey. Michael made a lifelong career out of trucking-a job he truly loved. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being out on the open road. In his free time, he could often be found watching NASCAR, admiring old tractors, or cheering on his favorite teams during college football and basketball season-especially his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats. Known for his big personality, Michael had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was a jokester who could keep anyone laughing and a bit of a flirt who loved to make people smile. Above all, he cherished his family deeply, especially his daughters, who were the light of his life. Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Peggy Frey; granddaughter, Kendra Campbell; and siblings, Jeff, Stephen, and Linda. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be forever treasured by his daughters, Sheila Paro (Dan) and Christy Vires (Junior); grandchildren, Brandi Stroud, Nathan Stroud, Levi Deaton, Zach Frey, James Vires, Lucas Vires, and Kaylen Frey; along with ten great-grandchildren; along with ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Denise, Melissa, Harvey, Greg, Ronnie, and Janet; and many friends who will miss him dearly. Michael's family takes comfort in knowing he's reunited with loved ones who went before him and that his stories, humor, and love will live on in their hearts. A memorial service will be held in Michael's honor at a later date in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
