MaryEllen Sarracco

MaryEllen Sarracco, of Waldwick passed away peacefully, Friday, March 6, 2026. She is survived by her husband Mike, brother Peter, children: Jackie Sarracco and Chris Wilhjelm (son-in-law), Lisa and Tom (son-in-law) Keane, Christina and Richard(son-in-law) Sasson. Granchildren: Michael, Amy, Erik, Anna, Emma, Peter, Carl, Hannah and great grandson, Kai and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

MaryEllen was born to Peter and Anna Monahan and graduated Cathedral High School, St. Joseph's branch in New York City, Class of 1962.

MaryEllen's first job out of high school was with the Arch Diocese of New York. She later worked for Hudson City Savings Bank first in Waldwick and later in the main branch in Paramus.

MaryEllen was an avid reader. She always liked to read the last page first to make sure she liked the ending. If you needed a shopping buddy, MaryEllen was there! MaryEllen and Mike enjoyed many years vacationing in Aruba enjoying the beaches and sights. MaryEllen was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and Nana. She enjoyed her grandchildren everyday and spoiled them to no end. She would do anything for her family and grandchildren (even climb onto the roof for a ball).

MaryEllen met the love of her life, Mike at age 15 while she was in high school. When she was just 19, Mike asked her to marry him but her father would not allow it. Mike then joined the army and three years later he returned but this time they didn't ask for permission! They married on April 30, 1966 at Incarnation Church and honeymooned in Bermuda. MaryEllen and Mike were blessed with three daughters: Jackie, Lisa and Christina. April 30th would've been their 60th Wedding Anniversary though they were together for 67 years!

Friends may visit the family at The Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated St. Luke Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus on March 10, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations/contributions in MaryEllen's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
