Mathew H. Brooks

Mathew H. Brooks, 18, of Eaton, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born on June 3, 2007, in Oneida, a son of William "Bill", Jr. and Tina (Greenwood) Brooks.
Mathew graduated from Morrisville-Eaton High School on January 9, 2026, in a special Commencement Ceremony attended by Senator Joe Griffo and Assemblyman Joe Angelino.
His life's journey was often marked by challenges, yet through it all, Mathew showed strength and resilience. Along the way, he touched many hearts and left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mathew had a deep and genuine love for his family and the outdoors. He found peace and happiness in nature and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Riding snowmobiles and four-wheelers were among his favorite pastimes, offering him freedom, joy, and moments of true contentment.
Mathew will be remembered for his spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the impact he made during his time with family, friends, and all who crossed his path.
He is survived by his parents, William "Bill", Jr. and Tina Brooks; his brother, Jake Brooks (Phoebe Straight), of Eaton; his paternal grandfather, William Brooks Sr. of Peterboro; his maternal grandparents, Ken and Mary Greenwood of Erieville and Dedra Wilson of Erieville; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Matthew was predeceased by his grandmother, Virginia "Ginny" Brooks.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
