July 24, 2022. Age 37. Loving son of Cy and Karen Abdo. Loving brother of Mark and Christina. Dear Nephew of Mark (the late Lisa) Abdo, Kim (Phil) Badalamenti, Mary Beth (Bill) Morrison, Steve (Judy), Barto, Bill (Maureen) Barto, Susan (Bret) Gallaway, Mike (Jenny) Barto, and the late John Barto. Devoted boyfriend of Philomena Laboe. Grandson of the late Joseph Sherman & Dolly Abdo and Rudolph & Kay Barto. Dearst cousin of Sherman, the late Natalie, Markie, AnneMarie, Nicole, Adriana, Joe, Dan, Katie, Mike, Jeremy, Jillian, Aaron, Audrey, Becca, Jack, Karen, Julia, and Caroline.
Matt earned his B.A. and Law Degree, (graduated Magna Cum Laude) from Michigan State University. Matt chose to partner up with his dad in his legal career and established the Abdo Law Firm specializing in criminal cases. Matt lived in the City of Detroit and loved to entertain his friends at his home and show them around the City. Matt had many passions and interests including travel, techno music and digital art. He attended several music festivals with his brother Mark, friends and cousins and traveled extensively to many U.S. National Parks, European Countries, Burning Man in Nevada, Thailand, Machu Picchu (Peru), and Columbia, Matt was also a well known techno music fan, performer and producer and he, along with Brad, Will, Larry and others, produced and performed house and techno music at events locally and nationwide.
Visitation Saturday 2:00pm until the 7:00pm Funeral Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Shelby Township Lions Club, P.O. Box 182075, Shelby Twp., MI. 48318 https://shelbylionsclub.org/

I´m struggling to find the right words. I don´t think there are any. To bis family and loved ones- thank you for helping him become the man he is. I say is, because he is still with you. Maybe not physically, but he IS still the same great man, great friend, great "classmate". I´m sending so many prayers to you all. The Matt I knew, kept a smile on your/my face. I am someone who did not know Matt well but I wanted you (his parents and family) to know how much he helped me on several days in my life as a parent that were some of the worst. I felt helpless and Matt was kind and reassuring. He was confident and patient at a time when I felt weak and in despair. I'm sure you are so very proud to have such a son. I know there are no words to ease your pain - there would not be for me. Just know he was a fine young man. I will always remember how wonderful he was. May he Rest In Peace.
