Matthew Daniel Bitter, age 42, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2025. He was born on June 6, 1982, to Dale and Donna Bitter. He was a 2001 graduate of Howards Grove High School.
Matt was an employee of UW Health since 2016. He held a few positions over the years, but his current role was the supervisor of maintenance and engineering services over their east region. Matt was the type of guy who would always be there for his family and friends, and help a stranger in need without asking for anything in return. He loved watching his baseball team, The Milwaukee Brewers. Matt was truly a lover of all things outdoors, whether that was camping and hiking with friends and family, or traveling to Arizona to enjoy the beauty of the mountains, desert, and the many great golf courses. Matt and his dad Dale shared a love for golfing and enjoyed many golf games together. Matt loved his girlfriend Sara, whom he affectionately called his “Tator Tot.” She returned the favor, dubbing him her “Llama.” They just celebrated their three-year anniversary on Friday, May 30th. He was an awesome uncle to his nephews and niece, a great brother, and an amazing son. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The world could use more people like Matt.
Matt is survived by his parents, Dale and Donna Bitter, his sister Allison, whom he jokingly called “Alice,” (Eric) Kunze, his nephews Emmet and Clayton Kunze, niece Hadley Kunze, his girlfriend Sara Schafer, his uncles and aunts: Donna and Tim Wolf, Sue Bitter, Karen and David Hinze, Dan and Connie Bitter, David and Linda Krupp, Mary and Jim Kraemer, Chuck and Jeanine Krupp, Kay and Kevin Church, Joan and Steve Vorpagel, Linda and Rodd DeBraal, Bill and Nikki Krupp and Tim and Steph Krupp, and many loving cousins and great friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Delbert and Evergene Bitter, William and Virginia Krupp, Uncle Ken Bitter, and cousin Jeremy Vorpagel.
A memorial service to honor Matt’s life will take place at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home, W2132 Garton Rd, Sheboygan, on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., with Pastor Noah Fremer officiating.
