Matthew Francis "Matt" Bowen, 79, of Springfield passed away on December 22, 2023 peacefully in his home. The son of the late William and Katherine Bowen, he was born and raised in Philadelphia and was a graduate of West Catholic High School and LaSalle University.
Matt will be remembered for his loving, generous, and kind spirit and as a man who was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially while listening to doo wop on the deck and cheering for Notre Dame football. Matt will be forever missed by his devoted wife of 55 years, Barbara Bowen (nee Cellucci) and his children, Matthew (Debra), Timothy (Brittany), and Jayne (Christy). He was the adoring Pop Pop to Caitlin, Isabelle, Matthew, Isaac, Olivia, Evelyn, Evan, and Hannah.
He is predeceased by his brothers, William and Martin, and survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to his Viewing Wednesday, December 27, 2023 9:30am St. Francis of Assisi, 136 Saxer Ave. Springfield PA 19064 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Burial private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Bowen's passing. Great man! He created a lot of fond memories growing up playing in the Springfield AA Little League. Condolences go out to the entire Bowen family.

What a wonderful man..and friend. I am so saddened to learn of Matt's passing. He put up a good fight...and now he will be at peace. From knowing Matt all these years..and booking his flight as he travelled around..and the two of us laughing at our pronunciations of New England Towns..and visiting his lovely home..and and loving family..he will be missed. A good man gone..till we see him in Heaven. My deepest sympathies to our beloved Barbara..and Matt Jr, Tim..and Jane. Treasure the memories.
