Matthew Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Richardson Funeral Home - Leominster on Mar. 13, 2026.
Matthew Brown of Leominster has passed away peacefully at the young age of 29 years surrounded by family & friends St Vincent's Hospital. Following a catastrophic heart event which left Matthew on life support 29 days, it was unfortunately determined best to take him off of the artificial medical respiration do to his enormous anoxic brain injury that was suffered. Family & friends are truly both devastated & shocked from this unexpected tragedy.

Most who knew Matthew considered him to be quite introspective much like a philosopher in his own right, often coming out with words & thoughts beyond his young age. He had a quick wit & loved to engage in a good conversation about life & it's challenges. Matthew had his own challenges & faced mental health issues throughout most of his adult life. Those who knew Matt best remember the light he brought with his presence. He chose to battle his issues with a quiet courage that even he would say, most would never understand! He remained resilient often disguising his emotional shortcomings through many jumbled writings. "Maddie" secretly desired to become a rapper whilst he strummed on his guitar. Sadly, Matthew wouldn't live to see his dreams come to any fruition. However, Matthew proved to be an outstanding presence wherever he'd find himself, often going on many a road trip with his lifelong family friend, Roger. He truly had a kind spirit within, though often choosing to portray that roughneck exterior, but then frequently engaging & talking to most anyone he'd come across, trying to make a new friend. Most days Matt loved to read, go fishing or hunting, "play some tennis" (down Doyle, of course) & mostly he loved his long walks.

Like most young boys, as a child growing up, he loved all sports excelling greatly in soccer. He proudly helped his team to victory during the Nashoba Valley soccer "league tourny" at age 11. After a short stint of high school basketball, he joined the LHS tennis team. He brought Leominster to an outstanding win upon scoring an "ace" to close out the game against the formidable Hudson team! Matt certainly was a powerhouse in his own right shining bright as an athlete!

Matthew leaves his heartbroken & beloved mother Bridget "Kelly" & her lifelong partner Ray with his son Lance Remy, as well his uncle "Tom" all residing in Leominster. "Maddie" leaves behind an adoring sister Katrina Silva & her husband Carlos with their 2 babies, Mateo & Sofie, also his parents Nergio & Lizbeth Silva & sister Gabriela Gonynor of Naples, Fla. He leaves behind 2 aunts, Jennifer Brown of Worcester with her daughter Danielle of Natick, & Tracy Brown with her lifelong partner Greg Stackel of San Antonio Texas. Finally, Matthew leaves a best friend Roger M. of Leominster who he would travel with on so many adventures. "Matt" is sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. But we know God is great, God is good & has His Playbook, & so now Matthew is his prized player! There will be a celebration of Matthew's life in the funeral home on March 28th from 12:00 to 2:00 followed by a short memorial service. Afterwards, immediate family & close friends are invited to partake in an intimate gathering at Christina's Restaurant.

Kelly has made a special request to help support NAMI + other like organizations in all ways possible in memory of her dearly departed & adored son Matthew.
