Obituary
Matthew J. Carlson, 16, of Spotswood, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
Born in Staten Island, New York, Matt was a lifelong resident of Spotswood. He was a sophomore in Spotswood High School where he played basketball and lettered in varsity baseball. Matt enjoyed baseball from his early days of T-ball through little league to playing on the Spotswood Chargers and travel teams. He had hoped to be able to go to Vanderbilt University and continue playing the game he loved and maybe move into playing professionally. Matt enjoyed every opportunity to go fishing and jet skiing. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and football Giants. Most of all, Matt loved spending time with his family and friends.
Predeceased by his paternal grandmother Camille Carlson in 2021, he is survived by his grandparents, Robert Carlson and Vincent and Minnie Curulli; his parents John and Joanna Carlson; his siblings Dominique and John Vincent Carlson, and; many aunts, uncles and cousins that will all miss him dearly.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Spotswood Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin with a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, December 2nd, followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1st, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in Immaculate Conception Church, Manalapan Road, Spotswood.
