Matthew Zachary Cooper, 19, of Atlanta, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2025. Born July 25, 2005, Matthew was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He was treasured for his wit and gentle soul.
Matthew was an explorer with a variety of interests. He liked Sci-Fi and Anime. In middle school he participated in soccer, basketball and Civil Air Patrol. In high school he ran cross country, played lacrosse and designed sets for the high school theatre. He loved the outdoors including hiking with the family. He was an entrepreneur beginning in high school where he launched several ventures. His love for all things technology was evident at an early age. He was constantly in the process of constructing, dismantling, re-engineering and perfecting an object or toy. He would then move on to the next object that piqued his interest. He was extremely creative, intelligent and clever. He marched to the beat of his own drum.
Matthew graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, GA. He was accepted to college but deferred it for planned entry into military service. While awaiting enlistment, he taught himself computer assisted design with his 3-D Printer. He went on to sell his designs.
Matthew is the much loved son of Cherise James and Marquis Cooper and brother to twin sisters Lauren and Morgan Cooper. He leaves behind grandparents Barrant and Dorothy James of St. Mary, Jamaica and Joseph and Leither Cooper of Helmetta, NJ; aunts Siana James of Margate, Florida, Kristin Ellsworth (Joe Ellsworth) of Lawrenceville, GA and Lumishka Turnbull (Vern Turnbull) of Franklin Park, NJ; cousins Avery Turnbull, Aaron Turnbull, Tyler Ellsworth, and Mairen Ellsworth; and a host of close relatives and friends who he has left behind to cherish his memory.

The scripture says "blessed are they that mourn..." and the Word is true. If you are not feeling "blessed" yet, I pray that you will soon. As you mourn, I pray that you are experiencing "the peace of God that surpasses understanding..." It can be yours if you ask. May God bless.
