Matthew (Matt) John Dillon, joined our Lord and Savior on August 9, 2022, after a three-month hospitalization at the Cleveland Clinic. He waged a valiant fight, but his body did not match his indomitable spirit.
Matt was born July 31, 1957, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for Humana as an Assistant Director of Personnel. Later, he worked in mental health/occupational therapy before becoming the Business Manager for the Okaloosa County Health Department. His talents were noticed and he became Director of Administrative Services for the State of Florida. He had a loyal staff and served on several national boards for health departments and Medicare before retiring in 2014.
Matt had two passions in his life. First was family, especially his mother, Ethel Dillon. They took care of each other and lived life to its fullest. His other passion was finance. Matt was an avid stock trader and would spend hours investigating market trends, consulting and guiding others.
Matt, son of beloved mother, Ethel Dillon and father, William F. Dillon, Sr. (deceased), is survived by his brother, William F. Dillon, Jr.; sister, Kathleen Dillon; nephews, Kyle & Billy; niece, Stephanie; eight grandnieces/nephews; Aunt Carol and two cousins.
A Visitation will be held at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL, 32547 at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, with the funeral service to follow beginning promptly at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Tribute Contributions in Matt s name can be made to Cleveland Clinic Heart and Vascular Research Fund.
