Matthew David Glenn

January 11, 1977 – January 10, 2026

Matthew David Glenn, lovingly known as "The Machine," passed away on January 10, 2026, in Northville, Michigan, just one day shy of his 49th birthday. He was born on January 11, 1977, in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania.

Matthew was a kind, warm, and big-hearted soul whose helpful spirit touched everyone he met. A creative problem-solver and skilled carpenter, he earned his GED and spent many years doing home repair and carpentry work-often lending his talents not only professionally, but freely to neighbors and anyone in need. Helping others came naturally to him.

He took great pride in opening his own home repair business in Pennsylvania, in getting married, and most of all in the birth of his daughter, Katie Rae Glenn, who was the light of his life.

Matthew found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved attending the Woodward Dream Cruise, visiting dog parks with his beloved dog Luna, and cheering on the Detroit Lions. He never missed an opportunity to guess answers during Family Feud, watch Two and a Half Men, or dive into Marvel superhero films, sci-fi movies, and Game of Thrones. He especially treasured time spent with his nephews, Maddex and Jaxxen, and often found comfort reading his Grandma Frick's Bible.

Family meant everything to Matthew. Every morning, without fail, he told his mother how much he loved her. He was a good listener with a gentle heart and a great sense of humor. He often reminded Sam, "It is what it is," and jokingly told Josh, "Deer brothers for life," followed by his signature snicker and a playful "neee-hawwww."

Matthew also had a well-known "health food" stash that included Mountain Dew pop, Cheeze-Its, Chip's Ahoy, Oreo, Girl Scout cookies, Reese's Pieces, and peanut butter ice cream-always enjoyed without apology.

He is survived by his father, David Glenn; his mother, Rebecca Houle; his step-father, Thomas Houle; his step-brothers, Samuel and Joshua Houle; his daughter, Katie Rae Glenn; his aunt, Mary Alyce Frick; his uncle, Levi Frick; and his nephews, Maddex and Jaxxen Houle.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Frick, Gwendolyn Frick (née Brinker), Ralph Glenn, and Margaret Glenn (née Culler).

Matthew will be remembered as kind, creative, big-hearted, and deeply caring-a man who showed love through action, laughter, and service to others.

Memorial donations in Matthew's honor may be made to the Salvation Army, any local pet shelter, or the Humane Society.

A Celebration of Matthew's Life with his immediate family will be planned for a later date.
