Matthew Allan Kelly, 27, left this world on May 13, 2023, after a prolonged struggle with diabetes. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Jeff and Sandi Wright Kelly, his brother Alex Said, 2 nephews, and a large extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles, and more friends than can be counted. He was predeceased by his grandparents Ellen Kelly, Bill & Dorothy Wright, "Uncle Bones", "Aunt Cairney", and cousin, Keira Miller. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Matthew was an extremely talented musician and followed in his brother's footsteps in sharing a love of music. Beginning in band in elementary school, he countinued his passion throughout middle school and also as a devoted and distingushed trombonist in the Henry Clay Marching band. He could pick up any instrument and play by ear, and had a steadfast love of Pokemon, Legos, and gaming. An old soul but a child at heart, he exuded a larger-than-life persona through which anyone could see his abundant joy, kindness, and exceptional ability to bring light to darkness. A young man who always listened more than he spoke, Matthew brought untold happiness and love into the lives of all that had the priviledge of knowing him. Humble of spirit, he always put others before himself. While the world is inevitably dimmer without his body, his spirit of love, joy, and gratitude will live on in the lives of those he touched.
There will be a Celebration of Matthew's life 2:00PM July 8th, at Boone's Creek Baptist Church, 185 N. Cleveland Road Lexington, KY 40509. In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests potted plants for Matthew's Memory Garden.
Please wear an item of clothing to honor one or more of Matt's loves of peace symbols, cats, tie-dye, and rainbows.
A reception to follow.
