Matthew A. “Matt” Townsend passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning at his residence. He was born on September 7, 1983, in Indianapolis, the son of Gregory and Dana Townsend.
A 2002 graduate of Perry Meridian High School, Matt worked as a Property Maintenance Engineer for several years at JLL Commercial Real Estate, Inc. in Indianapolis.

He was known for his excellent work ethic, his love of gadgets and technology, and his ability to think deeply and plan thoughtfully. He had a giving heart and offered a hand wherever it was needed no matter the circumstances. Matt loved camping, playing Tetris, and building Legos with his boys. Matt took great pride in all home improvement projects whether initiated or instructed by his wife. He also enjoyed DJing and had a passion for karaoke.
A devoted family man, Matt leaves behind his wife, Abbey Townsend, of Willow Branch; his two young sons, Hudson Alan and Bennett David; his mother, Dana Townsend (Dan Ford), of Indianapolis; his sister, Cara (Adam) Townsend Kopetsky, of Indianapolis; two nieces, Lydia and Ava Kopetsky and nephew, Braeden Alan Townsend, of Indianapolis; his in-laws, Amy (Chris) Legler, of Shirley; two sisters-in-law, Jessica (Justin) Green and their children, Lucy, Meadow, and Teddy, of Markleville, and Samantha (Max) Snyder and their children, Camden and Grainger, of Knightstown; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Missy) Karnes and their children, Alyssa and Michael “Mickel”,of Kennard, and Christopher Legler, of Anderson; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
