Paul R. Litten, 81, of Charlottesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was born on September 10, 1943, in Greencastle, Indiana, a son of the late Paul Edward and Genny (Noel) Litten.
Paul was a 1961 graduate of Knightstown High School and attended Frankfort Pilgrim College in Frankfort, Indiana. He dedicated much of his life to hard work and service, retiring from Navistar in 2001 after 32 years of employment. Following his retirement, Paul continued to give back to his community by driving a school bus for 23 years, retiring from that role in 2024. For six years, he also worked as a caretaker for McCray Cemetery.
A man of deep faith, Paul was ordained as a minister in the Church of the Nazarene in 1967 and remained an active member of the Warrington Church of the Nazarene throughout his life. He had a passion for travel and was rarely content to stay indoors. He was a man who always had to be doing something, embracing every opportunity to stay active and engaged.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Linda Litten of Charlottesville; children: Paul R. (Valerie) Litten II of Washington, Illinois; Dennis D. (Karen) Litten of Lebanon; and Chad (Dr. Amber Karkosky-Litten) Litten of Mooresville; grandchildren, Samuel Paul Litten, Emily (Will) Rose, Wesley Everett (Claudia) Litten, Matthew N. Copeland, Melanie N. Copeland, Myranda K. Litten, McKale K. Litten, and Maddox K. Litten; great-grandson,Wesley Everett Litten II.
He is also survived by his siblings: Linda J. Wilkerson, Randy (Julie) Litten, Carolyn (Allen) Barrows, Eugene (Jane) Litten, and Gary (Tammy) Litten; son-in-law, John Copeland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Copeland; son, Jeffrey Litten, and his sister, Patricia Litten.
Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 8, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastors Brad Hacker and Ron Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Elevate Church of the Nazarene, 306 South St. Shirley, IN 47384.
