Matthew Scott Rigby was born on August 21, 1990, in Kalispell, Montana. He was adopted as an infant by his parents Dane S Rigby and Shelley Neumiller Rigby and his sister Tonya Marie Rigby. Matthew grew up in Orem, Utah where he attended Orchard Elementary, Canyon View Jr High School and Timpanogos High School. He finished his graduation requirements through BYU's Independent Study Transcript Program.
Matthew was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized at the age of 8.
Matthew enjoyed sports and played on various teams. His soccer team of three years never lost a game. He enjoyed the outdoors and activities where he could use his hands and his creativity. Matthew was a boy scout and earned his Eagle rank.
He enrolled at UVU's Mountainland Technical College in the Welding program and graduated in 2019 with certificates in Welding Technology and Pipe Welding Processes. He worked at Powder River Industries in Provo. He also worked as a welder in the Salt Lake area and was most recently employed at 3X Specialties as a welder and a fabricator. He enjoyed and was proud of his skills as a welder.
Matthew was the father of a daughter, Khaely Diane Rigby. He also had a son who was given up for adoption.
Matthew Scott Rigby unexpectedly passed away June 19, 2024. He is survived by his parents, Dane and Shelley Rigby, his sister, Tonya Marie Rigby Brady (Daniel Brady, children: Shaylnn Martin and Jaxsinn Brady) and his daughter Khaely Diane Rigby. He is survived by Grandma Elinor Rigby, Grandpa Chris Neumiller (Blythe), Uncles, Aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wendell Dean Rigby and his grandmother Deloris Neumiller.
A viewing will be held at the Walker Sanderson Funeral home on 646 East 800 North in Orem, Monday, July 1, 2024 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Graveside services will be held at the Orem City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
