Funeral services for Mattie H. Walker, age 87, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 20, 2026, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow in Westview Cemetery. Rev. Hank Melton and Bishop Simon Yoder will officiate.
Mrs. Walker was born on July 30, 1938, in Emanuel County, Georgia, and made Dublin her home for many years. She was a retired secretary at the East Laurens Middle School and was a member of Buckeye Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Outer Banks, and she loved to fish in her pond. She was preceded in death by her parents, Yome Lee Heath, Sr. and Annie Powell Heath; and siblings, Viola Rogers, Linnie Mae Rauwald, Yome Lee Heath, Jr., Andy Heath and Shirley Johnson. Mrs. Walker passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Piedmont Hospital in Macon.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie Ray Walker, Sr.; a son, Bennie Ray Walker, Jr. (Rhonda); sister, Lorene Beasley; granddaughter, Monica Walker; great-grandson, Nolan Walker; great-granddaughters, Lani Tyson and Chloe Reed; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Yoder, Paul Yoder, Mark Yoder, Ray Yoder, Wendell Martin, and Gary Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Walker, Mike Johnson, Hubert Leo Rogers, Donald Peeples, Curt Mayo and John McAfee.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Buckeye Christian Church or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
