Maud McClain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Callaway-Allee Funeral Home on Feb. 8, 2026.
Maud Ellen Gackstatter McClain, age 83, of Webster, Texas, peacefully passed into her Heavenly Father's arms on February 7, 2026. Maud was born on December 25, 1942, to her father, Paul Thomas Gackstatter, and her motherGladys Ann Turner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Jesse Burle McClain; her only

sister, Ann Gackstatter; her eldest daughter, Wanda Lynn May; and her granddaughter, Theresa

McMorrough.

Maud, affectionately known as "Mott Mott," married young and was a devoted mother to Wanda

Lynn May, Deborah Sue May, Fonda Belle Dare, James Randolph McClain, Lisa Renee

McClain, and Jesse Lee McClain. Their beautifully blended family was often lovingly referred to

as "The Brady Bunch." Mott Mott also cherished a friendship of more than 60 years with her

best friend, Linda Eaton, whom she is surely catching up with in Heaven today.

In 1974, Mott Mott co-founded Mayco Remodeling with Earl May. She later managed the

company for nearly 30 years alongside the love of her life, her husband Jesse. After retiring from

the family business, Mott Mott continued working as a teacher's aide at a local elementary

school, a role that reflected her steady work ethic and love for others.

Mott Mott taught her family the value of perseverance, dedication, and showing up even when times

were tough. To know her was to know just how strong-willed a woman could be. She held her

own-whether we were ready for it or not-and that strength was one of her most endearing

qualities. She also had a passion for her red Camaro, often seen cruising around town with her

blonde hair and bow blowing in the wind to the sound of "Bad to the Bone."

Mott Mott loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. On many weekend nights,

you could find them sleeping on pallets in her living room, blankets piled high to keep everyone

warm. An avid crocheter, Mott Mott made sure no child who entered her home was ever cold.

Weekend mornings often began with the smell of waffles filling the house and oldies music

playing in the background. She was also an incredible cook. Some of her most beloved dishes included her famous

cheesecake, seafood gumbo, and mashed potatoes with gravy-meals that brought everyone

together around the table.

Her family says…..

As we say goodbye for now, we hold tightly to the legacy Mott Mott leaves behind: her

unwavering love for Jesus and for her family. She will live on in our hearts always, and we will

love and miss her until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to service. Interment will follow at the Ivie Cemetery.
