Dr. Maura Lipp (51), a devoted wife, fiercely loyal friend, and one of the most brilliant pulmonary/critical care and hospice - palliative care physicians of her generation, passed away surrounded by love.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lipp and Anne Clavin. She is survived by her loving husband, Jose Conrrado of Columbia and her sister, Dorothy “Dee” Clavin.

Maura began her life of service early, joining EMS at just 15 and working her way through medical school with unwavering determination. Her career led them to finding their home in Columbia, Tennessee, in 2008, when she joined the medical staff of Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates and began working as a full-time intensivist in the Critical Care Unit at Maury Regional Medical Center. In addition to practice in critical care medicine she expanded upon her passion for caring for others by serving as the Medical Director for Compassus. She helped develop one of the first home-based community Palliative Care programs in the country. A gifted and compassionate physician, she devoted her life to healing others not only here in Tennessee and in hospitals across the country but on medical mission trips that took her across continents. Her reach was global, and the lives she touched are countless. Whether it was a patient in need or a stranger who became a friend, Maura gave her care, her humor, and her whole heart.

She treated every person she encountered with dignity and respect from colleagues and patients to strangers on the street. She was endlessly curious and wildly intelligent. Her knowledge was vast, but it was her humbleness and empathy that made her unforgettable.

Everyone who met Maura remembers her personality because it filled the room. She was magnetic, hilarious, and fiercely passionate. Her laugh was infectious, the kind that made you laugh too, even before you knew the joke. Her stories were legendary and somehow always exactly the ones you needed to hear.

Maura loved deeply and lived boldly. Her travels and adventures only added to her already large personality and ability to share her love wherever she went. She adored being on water boating and fishing but especially any time she spent at the ocean. She had great happiness with her beloved dogs. She loved her sister with a fierce, gentle heart. A bond that distance or time apart could never break. Maura loved many things but especially her husband, Jose, whom she cherished with her whole heart. She was a dedicated wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She was someone who showed up, again and again, with love, laughter, and light.

Even in the face of immense personal trials including a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, and later with cancer, Maura never wavered. She met every challenge with courage and grace, raising awareness, inspiring others, and continuing to live fully and fearlessly. In the final chapter of her extraordinary life, Maura accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her faith became a deep and personal source of peace, and she left this world knowing the comfort of God’s love and the promise of eternal life.

Maura’s legacy is one of boundless compassion, unwavering resilience, and unshakable love. She lived a life rooted in love, and she gave that love freely and generously.

She gave all of herself to this world and it is better because she was here. We were all so lucky so incredibly lucky to know her, to be loved by her, and to love her in return.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. A celebration of Maura’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 1 , 2025, at 6:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home.
