Maureen Gass, born on November 27, 1936, in Hamlin, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Lubbock at the age of 88. Throughout her life, Maureen exemplified dedication, passion, and an unwavering faith that touched the hearts of all who knew her. With a career that spanned several decades, Maureen worked for GMAC for 25 years before transitioning into the real estate field, where she found her true calling. Joining the office of Pat Garret Realtor, she obtained her real estate license and showcased her talent and commitment. She later became the owner of Free Find, a rental location business that contributed to her esteemed reputation in the community. This venture was ultimately acquired by Westmark Realtors, renaming it to Location Rentals, where she continued to flourish for more than 30 years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and clients alike.
Maureen was a woman of deep faith, who loved the Lord profoundly. Her faith guided her actions and interactions, and she was a source of inspiration and light to many. Outside of her professional life, Maureen had a passion for dancing, enjoying both ballroom and square dancing, which brought her much joy and connected her with wonderful friends.
She grew up in Hamlin but later moved to Lubbock, where she graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955.
Maureen is survived by her son, Steven Gass, and his wife Karolyn of Lubbock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, her two beloved fur babies, Rocky and Bailey, were cherished companions throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Altus and Tulia (Miller) Jenkins, as well as two brothers, Jeffrey Miller Jenkins and Stephen Michael Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at O'Donnell Cemetery.
