Maureen L Mitchell

Maureen Mitchell, 63, of Lunenburg, MA, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by family at Giving Tree Senior Living in Dracut, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry St. John, who predeceased her on June 18, 2020. Born in Lowell, Maureen was the treasured daughter of the late Richard Mitchell Jr. and Mary (Fitzgerald) Mitchell. She graduated from Keith Hall with the Class of 1980 and went on to earn her associate degree in radiology technology from the Mass General College of Health Professions in 1983. She then earned her certification in medical diagnostic sonography from Yale University, and went on to earn a number of rare specialty certificates. Maureen dedicated nearly 30 years of her career to Reliant Healthcare, formerly Fallon Clinic, retiring in 2019 after a long and respected tenure as a diagnostic sonographer. Maureen found great joy in reading, walking, caring for her beloved dogs, and spending time with friends and neighbors. She especially treasured her vacations at Rye Beach with her husband Henry, a place where they made many meaningful memories together. Maureen leaves behind a legacy of pure love, abundant laughter and endless joy. She is survived by her two "bonus" sons and their spouses: Tim and Amanda St. John of Leominster, MA, and Matt and Maddy St. John of Littleton, NH. She also leaves behind her sisters and their spouses: Attorney Beth Mitchell and her husband Daniel Palermo of St. Augustine, FL, and Katie Anderson and her husband Jon Novak of Derry, NH; as well as her brother, Richard Mitchell III of Lowell, MA. Maureen is also survived by her five beloved "bonus" grandchildren: Mackenzie, Francesca, Augustine, Caleb, and Agatha, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very dear friends Karen Johnson of Fitchburg, MA, Sharen Fiorentino of Youngsville, NC, and her beloved dog Teddy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Neurofibromatosis Clinic at Mass General. Funeral Notice: Visitation for Maureen will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, N. Chelmsford, MA 01863. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 9 AM at Dolan Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 10 AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, MA 01851. Burial will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Patrick Cemetery, 1251 Gorham Street, Lowell, MA.
