Maureen McNally Walsh, nee McNally, of Clarendon Hills, formerly of Hinsdale. Born on July 11, 1947, Maureen was the beloved wife of the late Gerard P. Walsh, Sr.; loving mother of Gerard Jr. (Natalie), Erin Walsh and Colleen Walsh; dear grandmother of Madeline. Daughter of the late Bernard and the late Eleanor McNally, sister of the late Nancy (the late Peter) Kula, Jean (Richard Jilek) McNally, Deborah (the late Ronald) Zwarycz, Bernard (Mary) McNally; daughter-in-law of the late James and the late Esther (nee McHugh) Walsh; sister-in-law of the late James (Janet) and (the late Joan), the late Robert (the late Carol), Patricia (Michael) Purcell, and the late John; fond aunt to many nieces and nephews; dear cousin and friend to many.
Maureen was a graduate of Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin and held master's degrees from Northwestern University and Rosary College. She was a librarian and teacher for the entirety of her career. From her days as a reference librarian in Downers Grove, to establishing surgical libraries at the University of Chicago, to teaching children to read at Seward Academy in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Maureen was always a success. That continued success led her to have a long and fruitful career.
Maureen was proud of her academic and career accomplishments, but more so of her personal ones. In addition to her family, she enjoyed the many long-lasting friendships developed through the years. Whether from her days at Edgewood, her time at CPS, or the many dear neighbors in Hinsdale (the 4th of July was never a quiet one), she made many life-long friends. She will be missed by all.
Maureen's life was full of love, intellect, and friendship. It was a life well lived.
Visitation 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 4th at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St. Hinsdale, IL. Family and Friends will meet for a Funeral Mass 10 am on Friday, April 5th at Notre Dame Church, 64 Norfolk Ave. Clarendon Hills, IL. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
