Maurice James Doherty, 67, of Mifflintown, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at his residence.
Born on November 25, 1957, in Glasgow, Scotland, he is a son of the late James and Anne Mary (Callaghan) Doherty.
On October 4, 2008, he married his surviving wife, Julie A. (Losch) Doherty with whom he was blessed to share over 16 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jamie Doherty and his wife Nikita, Megan Boyle and her husband Adam, Grainne Doherty and her companion Conall Duddy, all of Derry, Ireland, and Ruairi Doherty and his companion Shona McLaughlin of Australia; six grandchildren, Toni Doherty, Aniyah Doherty, Avery Doherty, Jackson Boyle, Leighton Boyle, and Saorlaith Doherty; and one sister, Frances McLaughlin of Buncrana, Ireland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Roisin Doherty on March 18, 2007, and one brother, Stephen Doherty.
Mr. Doherty was employed for over 10 years at Tedd Wood Cabinets in Mifflintown.
Maurice was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was a master woodworker; enjoyed gardening and music of many genres; was a great singer, storyteller, and jack of all trades; and will be remembered as a legend in his homeland of Ireland. He was a dedicated conspiracy theorist.
Services and Interment will take place in his homeland of Ireland at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Doherty's memory can be made to Juniper Community Missions, P.O. Box 249, Thompsontown, PA 17094 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
