Maurice Todd "Moe" Harper, age 53, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Parsons, Kansas. He was born on August 14, 1970, in Peoria, Illinois to William Harper and Evelyn (Hall) Harper. Maurice attended E.N. Woodruff High School and had an uncanny ability to reach everyone he met in a deep and positive way.
Maurice left Peoria for Yukon, OK in 2010. He worked for Coughlin Equipment of Yukon as a Heavy Equipment Operator for over 5 years. He returned to Peoria to help his siblings care for their father in 2018 who was battling Parkinson's Disease. Maurice became a Union Member with BAC Local #6. He worked for TSI out of Chicago, Illinois for over 2 years. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as attending sporting events, dining out, and spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for weightlifting and was always ready to help anyone reach their fitness goals. Maurice nourished everyone he met with laughter, love, positivity.
He will be honored in both Kansas and Illinois. A Celebration of Life will be held at Parsons Arboretum South 21st & Briggs Ave., Parsons, Kansas 67357 on Saturday, July 27, from 1pm-3pm. A Celebration of Life will also take place in Peoria, Illinois at Glen Oak Park 2218 N Prospect Rd., Peoria, IL 61603 on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 12pm-4pm. He is survived by his two sons; Moses and Myles Harper of Birmingham, AL; his brother, Trent Harper of Peoria, IL; his sisters, Selena Harper of Peoria, IL and Katherine Harper of Birmingham, AL; his nephew Tasonte Miller of Peoria, IL; his niece Tanasyiah Miller of Peoria, IL; and a host of relatives and friends. Maurice was preceded in death by both his parents.
