Maurice Lynk, age 77 of Marshalltown, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Maurice Alud Lynk was born on February 2, 1948 in Marshalltown, the son of Carlton and Marguerite (Auld) Lynk. He graduated from Green Mountain High School with the Class of 1966. Maury attended Drake University, where he was in the ROTC program. He enlisted in the United State Air Force, proudly and faithfully serving his country for 20 years.

Following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Maury returned home to Marshalltown. He helped with Veterans Affairs for several years, both downtown and at the Iowa Veterans Home. Maury was united in marriage with Judy Smith on June 12, 2009.

Maury was the definition of patriotic – he served his country proudly, supported local, and took a serious interest in politics. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Marshalltown and active in helping veterans of Marshall County. Maury enjoyed fishing with his dad and attending hockey games with his wife. Maury was quite the bookworm – one of his favorite reads was Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.

Maury was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Marguerite; and his brother, Michael Lynk. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judy Lynk.

Per Maury’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Mountain Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
