Maurice F. Myra, 86, of Auburn, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Maurice was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on August 10, 1938, son of the late George R. Myra and Doris E. (Walker) Myra. He graduated from South High School and joined the Air Force and served 4 years, most of that in Armstrong, Ontario as a radio repairman.
Maurice was a letter carrier in his hometown of Auburn for most of his working life. After retiring in 1999, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 20 years alongside his wife.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Janet M. (LaMonda) Myra; his 4 children, Michael and his wife Elizabeth of Rutland; Laurie (Myra) D'Orlando and her husband John of Middleton; Cindy (Myra) Graves and her husband Fran of Worcester; Jeffrey and his fiancée Brittany of Hardwick; 7 grandchildren, Katelyn and Jessica Hanam; Rachel Myra and Sarah (Myra) Cronin, Justin, Zachary and Carly D'Orlando; and many nieces and nephews.
He was one of 4 children, Maurice is survived by his sisters, Doris Campbell and Bette Lapointe. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Dobson.
He was a longtime member of Hadwen Park Church and devoted member of the choir for over 50 years. He loved music, woodworking, gardening and fishing. He also loved his yearly trips to spend time with family in Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/donate).
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Myra family between 4 – 7 PM on Thursday August 21st at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday August 22nd at Hadwen Park Church, 6 Clover St., Worcester – please proceed directly to church. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
