Julian Duane Myra, 96, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2023, peacefully in his room at Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by son, Harold Duane Myra; daughter, Julia Myra Armstrong; granddaughter, Amberly Shae Bell; great-grandson, Corbin Lee Duane Bell; and nephew, Mark Anglin. He is predeceased by his parents Harold Reid Myra and Claire Butler; wife, Elva Myra; siblings, Harold Reid Myra, Jr, Leslie Butler Myra and Shelley Butler; grandparents, Mary Agnes Wooding Butler, Frederick William Butler, Sarah Reid Myra, Nathaniel Myra; and aunts Hope Myra and Luthera Myra.
Julian was born on December 11, 1927, in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army where he served his country during WWII and the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he continued his education at Toccoa Falls where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts. He later attended Florida State University where he obtained his Specialist Degree in.
Julian met his true love, Elva, while teaching at Jacksonville Christian School in 1959, whom he married in November 1960. He taught woodshop at Highlands Jr. High where he retired in 1992.
Julian will be remembered for living a life for Christ. He began every day with a daily devotional and prayer and always put Christ first in his life. This philosophy allowed him to be a devoted spouse, a loving father, a nurturing grandfather, and caring great-grandfather. Throughout the years he filled his days with working in his home woodworking shop, watching football, collecting coins, and traveling.
Julian is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

A special thanks to Community Hospice and the staff at Palagio Senior Living for the care they provided for Julian during his final days.
A visitation for Julian will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 4040 Dunn Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32218. A committal service will follow the funeral service on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
