Maurice La'Don Sweat

A Life Remembered: Maurice La'Don Sweat, a life-long resident of Lexington, Kentucky, pass
away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 54. Maurice (Reese) as
he was affectionally known, was a loving and devoted father, cherished Pawpaw, Son, Brother,
and a dear friend to many.
Born on January 9, 1971, in Lexington, Kentucky to Reva Sweat-Mason and the late Rufus
Talbert. He was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather, James Mason, his daughter,
Maurisa Sweat; his grandparents John & Loraine Dunson; and nephew, Eric Sweat, Jr.
He was a 1989 graduate of Tates Creek High School, where he was member of the varsity
football team in the capacity of a Fullback. He attended Morehead State University, Morehead,
Kentucky from 1990-1992. Reese was a man of many passions but mostly he enjoyed spending
time with his family.
Maurice is survived by his mother; Reva V. Sweat-Mason; his children, Kierstin Sweat, Brandon
Epps, Nathan Sweat; his siblings Patricia Graham, Eric (Jeanette) Sweat, Tracy Sweat and
Myron Sweat; his grandchildren; Ava, Kinslee and Malaya Sweat; a host of nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members and friends.
Homegoing services will be held on Friday, February 28 th at the Unity Worship Center, 1975
Haggard Court: The viewing is from 12PM to 1:00PM and service will follow immediately after.
