Maury Albert LaPrade, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away on January 4, 2025, after a long illness. Born on August 25,1953, to Maurice and Irene (Heroux) LaPrade (both deceased) of Woonsocket, RI. Maury is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna Mae (Andrews) LaPrade, and their three sons: Justin Maurice LaPrade (wife Melissa) of Oregon, OH; Jonathan Edward LaPrade (wife Amy) of Jefferson Township, NY; and Marc Andrew LaPrade (wife Maya) of Deltona, FL. He was a proud grandfather to Amber (23), Kaitlyn (17), Travis (12), and Ashley (10).
Throughout his life, Maury pursued various careers, including co-owning record stores and a rock concert sound company. He worked alongside his parents at Ace Glass in Linwood, MA, and later he and Donna founded Multi-Clean Carpet Upholstery, and Office Cleaning in Northbridge, MA. They built a reputation for honesty and quality workmanship for over 30 years. They retired in 2017 and moved to Rockledge, FL.
Maury's passions extended far beyond his professional life. He served as a deacon at Faith Fellowship Church 1980s, and was committed to both God and family. An avid musician, he played bass guitar in several bands and volunteered his sound engineer expertise at various churches and organizations. He was a music collector, curator, and enthusiast, renowned online for his vast knowledge of 60s and 70s music.
A man of many hobbies, Maury practiced gardening, brewing homemade beer, raising beloved cockatiels, along with his favorite parrot Whistle. He tinkered with electronics and built excellent speaker cabinets. The carefully researched execution of his pursuits often caused Donna to think of him as a modern alchemist. He was especially proud of the intricately tied flies he made for streams in New England, and later, lead lures formed in homemade molds in order to support his deep sea fishing habit. He loved to catch bluefin tuna and once a beautiful marlin. There was a special joy in the catching, but we delighted in many delicious meals. He also enjoyed practicing catch and release, loving that they could then swim on for another day.
We will deeply miss his infectious humor. We saw his generosity, kindness and wisdom reflect his faith in Jesus Christ his Savior. His hard work and dedication mirrored that of his parents and grandparents. Memere Eva had a huge impact on him as she helped raise him and his brother Gary while their parents operated Ace Glass in Whitinsville and later building the shop in Linwood, MA. The freedom that Maury and Gary had to experience the world around them in Woonsocket, RI caused many an episode of delight or danger. The ones she knew about surely caused their grandmother much consternation. Maury's legacy of great fortitude in the face of troubles will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Many will recall the impact he had on them, as we know he believed they had on him. A verse that has supported his life is Isaiah 40:31. Maury has now been fully renewed by the Lord God of heaven and earth. He is now resting in peace, free from the pain of this world. May God be praised in the remembrance of Maury's life.
