Mavis Jerdee

MAVIS IONE JERDEE Mavis Ione Jerdee, age 84, of Northome and International Falls MN, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023. Mavis was born on October 31, 1938, to Anna and Arnold Martinson near Gary, MN. After graduating from Gary High School in 1956, she continued her studies at the Crookston School of Nursing. In 1961, Mavis married her husband Jon, going on to have two children, Terry and Angela. The family lived in North Dakota, Wisconsin and northern Minnesota where she worked as a nurse in hospitals and aged care facilities as well as office administrator roles. Mavis eventually moved to Northome where she enjoyed her hobbies and the outdoors. She was an avid gardener and looked forward to ice fishing and time at the hunting shack. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and was an excellent baker. Mavis delighted her family and friends with her amazing pies, pastries and Norwegian delicacies. Her talents served her well into semi-retirement where she and Jon operated drive-in restaurants in Northome and Ada, MN. She also worked as a custom drapery seamstress at Anderson Fabrics in Blackduck, MN. Mavis recently moved to International Falls and was a resident of the River's Edge Villa along with her beloved dog Hank. Mavis is survived by son, Terry (Wendy) of International Falls, MN and daughter, Angela (Tom) of Sydney, Australia; brothers, Arne (Sonja) Martinson of Twin Valley, MN and Lowell (Pat) Martinson of Phoenix, AZ; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Jeff) Hagge of Rapid City, SD and Cindy Larson of Breckenridge, MN; brother-in-law, Allen (Becky) Jerdee of Des Moines, IA; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon, parents, sister, Arcell and brothers, Gene and Duane. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a future date.
