She attended District 31 Country School in rural Butterfield and then graduated from Butterfield High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Gerald Lenning on November 29, 1953. Mavis loved her garden, her petunias - geraniums - salvias - marigolds. But she especially enjoyed the fall - Little Jack Pumpkins were her joy and would keep them in the house as long as she could. She always looked forward to phone calls from her nieces at special times.
