Max was deeply passionate about swimming, having dedicated himself to the sport through various teams including the Retriever Aquatic Club, Eagles Swim Team, Dynamo Swim Club, South Forsyth High School, and Emory and Henry College swim team. His affinity for swimming began at a young age, participating on teams since the age of 4.

Beyond swimming, Max harbored a general love for sports and was actively pursuing a degree in Sports Management. He found joy in attending NASCAR races, and football games, engaging in video games with friends, and cherishing moments with his family. Max's kind and caring nature touched the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Robert West, his paternal grandparents Terry Roger Betzer and Phillis Dian Betzer, and his paternal uncle, Gregory Roger Betzer.

Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Jane Louise West and Les Kline; two sisters Brianna Kristine Betzer and Emery Elizabeth Betzer; his nephew Sky Kamuela Christensen; his aunts and uncles Kristen Porter and husband Bart, Andrew Betzer and wife Mousumi Bose, Jeff Argleben and wife Wendy, and Colleen Betzer.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 2 pm at Ingram Funeral Home in Max’s hometown of Cumming, GA.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff and students at Emory and Henry College for their compassionate care and unwavering support during this difficult time. Additionally, they extend sincere appreciation to Emery’s community in San Diego, as well as the Dynamo Swim Club and South Forsyth Communities, for their outpouring of love and support during this challenging time.
