Max T Clark

Max T. Clark, 80, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on July 1, 2024, at his home with his family at his bedside, after a brief battle with cancer.
Max was born to James Hubert Clark and Thelma B. Clark (née Oliver) on October 13, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. He graduated Taylorville High School in 1961, and then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War as an electronics interceptor operator. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.
Max married Carolyn Sue Cline, of Taylorville, Illinois, on March 7, 1964. He retired from his job as an operator supervisor at Shell Oil Wood River Refinery in 1995. He was an avid golfer, competing in several leagues and traveling with his friends to play challenging courses.
He is survived by his son, Mark Clark, daughter, Natika Burton, both of St. Augustine, FL, son Evan Clark, of Edwardsville, IL, stepson, Alex Miller, of St. Louis, MO, brother James Clark, sister-in-law, Patricia Clark, both of Edwardsville, IL, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Max was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Thelma Clark, wife Carolyn Clark, son Jason Clark, and sister Greta Haun. He will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery with full military honors on July 22, 2024.
